Tuesday at the park
As Velcro and I were leaving for the park, a young teenage girl had let Zoey out of the house and was watching her from the front door. The wrought iron gates were closed, but when Zoey saw Velcro, she squeezed thru the bars to get to her. I tried grabbing her collar but she was too quick and took off. I was able to catch her at the corner of Leland and 11th. She clearly has no street smarts! When I brought Zoey back, I tried questioning the girl about Zoey's care. The girl was very shy and mumbled so much that it was difficult to understand her. She said the dog belonged to her sister. I asked where Zoey slept. She said she "stayed" with her sister and something about it being illegal to tie her up out back. I said yes it is illegal and Zoey should be kept indoors with the family. I also told her I thought Zoey was too thin and asked if she was fed regularly. She said her sister feeds her all the time. I told her that it is apparent that Zoey needs to be walked and taken to parks to be socialized with other people and dogs. I then offered to take her to the park with Velcro--if it was OK with her sister. I had hoped to speak with the sister but she was not at home. The girl tried reaching her by phone, got no response but thought it would be OK to take Zoey.Zoey was so happy to be at the park and Velcro was so patient. Zoey did not know how to get into my vehicle or how to walk on leash/harness. It was incredible! She would leap up in the air, her body twisting and pulling until I was finally able to gain a small measure of control. When I brought Zoey back, a young boy came to the door to take Zoey. After thanking me, I asked him to let his sister know that I would like to talk to her about Zoey. He just smiled and closed the door
Well...hopefully I'll see Zoey again! Zoey needs to learn the doggie ropes from me!

My 6 mile trail run with Mom...

Mom and I went on a long trail run today in a new place! It's called Portuguese Bend and guess what, there are alot of bunnies in this nature reserve as well!! We started off later than mom likes to, around 8am. Mom couldn't seem to find the entrance to the trailhead-silly Mom! The first half of our run was all downhill, with lots of bunnies, then when we started back to the car it became all uphill, with not as many bunnies. It was getting warmer and the bunnies were hiding!
But mom and I had fun and I got water throughout our run (I drink out of mom's running water bottle). When we got home I got my yummy breakfast and then napped!! What a nice day with mom!

A lazy Saturday with Mom

Mom got home around 2:45 am this morning and didn't get to bed until around 4am. So when the alarm went off at 10am-she wasn't happy! She called my sheep herding trainer and cancelled our training session for today. I guess sitting in the car for an hour and a half wasn't something mom wanted to do today! But I have had her all to myself-well, the kitties have been getting some loving too. As a matter of fact, my silly sister kitty, Blossom, Actually came outside with mom and I. She was on a silly lead acting silly! She doesn't like the lead and Mom thinks she's kinda scared-that's why they are only inside kitties! But it was funny!!

ACDCGLA sheep herding trial in Escondido, Ca
Oh well-no qualifying run for our first time out!
Run #2 was the ACD only run. We were running against my trainer and once again we were first out again! This time my outrun was bad!! I busted thru the sheep and they wouldn't leave the fence line. I finally brought the sheep to mom and we made it around the cone and mom stayed there! I got the stupid sheep to the "Y" chute and they were halfway thru it when they turned around and made a mad dash to the gate-and I couldn't bring them back because mom had to stay at that silly cone!! So mom called the run again! But I put the sheep away and then we left the arena!
We had fun though!! Mom realized we need to work on driving a lot more and relding my confidence away from mom!!! Mom says it will just take time and she doesn't mind taking the time so we can work on it!! I think my mom likes me!!
Mom said she'll post pictures tomorrow since she's in bed already posting from her Blackberry!! It's not like it was hot today or anything!! It was only about 94 degrees out!! Mom shouldn't be exhausted from that!!
Good night! Woof!

SHEEP!
Mom and I spent 3 hours herding on saturday-mom wasn't too happy with our training-she said I forgot everything I learned and reverted to barking at the sheep. We have a trial this weekend, I don't think mom is looking forward to it...but she said to me we're going to go and hav FUN no matter what! FUN...that's what it's all about! Have a great week friends. My mom is off to her silly job that takes her away from me and blogging. I'll try to visit via mom's blackberry!

Pictures from my Barkday and my busy weekend activities..
I had a GREAT Barkday!

I wish mom had been able to spend it with me..but I had the next best thing-my petsitter who showered me with gifts! She made a card for mom and I and took lots of pictures of me with my gifts! I got a pink t-shirt, doesn't it look cute on me? I also got a squeaky toy barkday cake, which Blossom wanted to play with as well! Then yummy doggie bakery cookies and yummy freeze-dried meat treats!I LOVE the bakery cookies! I gobble them right up! Mom got to see all my barkday gifts when she got home from work!
On friday mom went to work real late, 1:30pm, so she took me for a run and then I got to go in the car with her to work! We stopped right before she got to paramount and I got a BIG surprise-my Grandpa was there!! I was going to doggie daycare with Grandpa for the night! I stayed the night with Grandpa, he hand fed me yummy food, and then on saturday morning we drove down to mom's house! (I think mom missed me ALOT!)
Today, mom and I drove up to Phelan to herd sheep! We worked on the Intermediate Course A course....our first try was a disaster but mom and I started to get the hang of it...I was driving the sheep while mom was standing at the handlers post. It's a big difference for us-a big jump from Started but we ended on a decent note and Mom and I are feeling a little better about the Intermediate level. We've entered the Australian Cattle Dog Club of Greater Los Angeles herding trials on April 18-19 so we only have another weekend to work on everything!!!
Now we're home and I think we're going out to get some dinner for me for the week! I hope everyone had a great weekend!!
