Ceilidh here,
Mom has been running a lot lately. so when she woke up at 6am I, Ceilidh, knew she was going to go for a long run. But mom was super slow to get ready and we waited and waited, actually Jack was inside the duvel cover sleeping with his hooman brudder....silly Chihuahua! Well mom finally pulled him out of the duvet cover and got us ready. She had taken velcro and i out earlier for pee and poop time. velcro doesnt go on the longer runs with us anymore-she tops out around 5 miles now. But jack and I are mom's "long distance low-riders" and we were attached to the Buddy System and off we went. It was already after 9am but luckily still overcast and cool.
After the first mile, we were running down the sidewalk and this female Pit Bull pounced on me-I squealed! Mom lifted me up and was screaming at the stupid owner who's dog didnt have a collar or leash on!!!! Mom said some HBO words to the idiot owner...who didnt say anything back to mom but picked up his dog and walked away...mom continued some HBO words and made sure Iw as ok...and then we continued running.
Mom must have had an adrenaline rush, for we raced down the hill!! But that ended shortly, because mom is a slowish runner. But we are ok with that!
The sun started to come out around mile 6..we dont like running in the sun! But mom always has her water bottle and we drink out of it. And she picks routes that have water fountains so she can always fill up!
We originally wer eonly going to run 8 miles, but then mom realized she'd be so close to 10 that she decided she needed double digits! Its been awhile since Jack and I have run a 10 miler. We recently ran 8 and run 3-5 regularly.
It was sunny now...2 miles in the sun when you wear a fur coat-mom doesnt like us running in the sun, so we walked and then ran then walked again and she gave us lots of water. Good thing we were near our house. She also looked for shady routes! We do love our mom because she thinks of us when we run!
We got home and drank water and then crashed....nice time for a nap!

A post 8.2 mile nap
But it seems Jack is being super pirate like and has nabbed mom's lap for his post 8.2 mile run nap....
Hmmm I'd be in mom's lap as well if I was small like Jack!

My deciduous teeth are being pulled...
Mom fed me lots and lots until 6pm then all the food was taken up! I was ok with that but my kitty sister has been crying since 4am because she's hungry!
I'm writing this from the comforts of my human brudders bed! I'm still lounging. I have to be in the vet by 9:30am so mom is letting me sleep as long as possible.
I know mom will be very worried about me! She was giving me all kinds of hugs and snuggles last nite! She will be hanging around the house until she can pick me up! Maybe she should have found those worry beads she once had....
Bye bye baby teeth..

Our heart breaks....
For The Houston Pittie Pack...you are in our thoughts, prayers, woofs and purrs.....
http://pittiepackfirerecoveryfund.chipin.com/sandras-fire-recovery
On December 16th....one of our fellow DWBers suffered a tremendous loss, The Houston Pittie Pack had a destructive house fire....only two of the pack made it out. Their fur mom tried and tried and tried until she couldn't breathe anymore and couldn't see anymore but she just couldn't save the rest of the pack.
On December 16th we lost 5 furbabies to a fire and Sandra and her family lost everything! She is devastated and traumatized as are the rest of the family!!!
A chip-in has been setup to help the fMily get back on their feet! If you can donate even just $1, it would be so appreciated. Please please please share the chip-in and during the holidy season please let's think of Sandra and her Houston Pittie Pack. Let's really show this family the true meaning of sharing and giving!
My heart breaks every time I read an updated blog post......I can't even imagine what they must be going thru.

Ceilidh's visit to the Animal Emergency Referral Center
I've lost 2 cats in 2 months, so when Ceilidh punctured my asthma inhaler last nite after I got home from work, I about lost it! All I heard was an boom and she raced into my room and under the bed. I coaxed her out from under the bed and onto the bed and she appeared ok, so I went back to the living room. Thats when she came in and she was making noises breathing. I felt her chest and her heart rate was FAST! Felt like her heart was going to jump out of her chest!
I called the pet emergency, and was out the door with all of the dogs in tow around 9:45pm. She was taken into the back immediately and her vitals were taken. I authorized them to call Poison Control. After which they told me her heart rate was 220 and her blood pressure was high. They also wanted to check her Potassium and Phosphorus levels-poison control had told them to watch out for these levels to drop!
She ended up spending the nite at the pet emergency. I had a really hard time going to sleep. I called at 2am, 5 am and 8:30am and each call I was told she had been given a drug to drop her heart rate and that her heart rate was slowly coming down.
10:30am - HR 220
2:00am - HR between 190-200 and she was given a beta blocker
5:00am - HR between 190-200 higher dose of the beta blocker was given
9:00am - HR between 150-180, she was quietly resting and had eaten a 1/2 jar of chicken baby food
I picked her up at 10:30 and transferred her to my vet where she will spend the day being observed, her HR checked again. Her blood work was taken again at 9am and her Potassium and Phosphorus were back within the normal levels, YEAH!!!
I'm so glad she made it thru the nite!!! When I left, I had to sign a CPR code to allow the pet emergency to do whatever means possible to save her life in the case of cardiac arrest. That was the hardest thing to sign! I cried while signing it!
She's just a little over 1 year old and has a MAJOR oral fixation to things that are bad for her!!!! I'm just so glad she is on the mend!!!!

Race for the Rescues 5k
We raised about $250 and on Sunday we arrived at the Rose Bowl ready to run! There were lots and lots of people and doggies at this event! Ceilidh and Jack has never run a race especially with all the dogs and people. But they were great! Jack barked at many big dogs, but he stopped once we started running!
It was a warm day in Pasadena, so mom gave us lots of walk and water breaks! We have a wonderful mom- she lets us drink water out of her hand held water bottle. As a matter of fact we only drink out of mom's hand held! We are spoiled!
We had a lot of fun. We finished and then had to race Jack over to the costume contest! He was entered along with lots of other dogs! Mom will upload the picture of his costume, but he came in 2nd place! He got a medal and Ceilidh and I were very proud of him!!!
We had a fun Sunday. We were out in the hot sun all day so we were happy to get home and nap!
